Is Deployment Required for Hackathon Projects?

I’m experimenting with AI-powered NPCs Idea and considering two different approaches:

  1. Game Engine Prototype: I could build a playground using a game engine like Unreal, where players can walk around, talk to various NPCs, and interact with them. I could package this as an installer, making it easy for you to try out.

  2. Assistant-Based System: Alternatively, I could create an assistant using a model like Geneface with Samba to process user inputs, generating interactive, conversational responses. However, since I’m not experienced with cloud deployment, I’m unsure about setting it up on a web platform or providing a web interface for testing. So I’m wondering if web deployment is necessary or if there’s a better way to make it accessible.

Let me know which approach sounds best to you and if deployment is a requirement!

Great question! Love both ideas as well! We are looking for interactive projects that people will be able to try.

Web is definitely preferred to make it accessible to the judges. We will accept installer, but I would also encourage creating binaries for both Windows and Mac to make it easier for the judges. Video will also be very helpful to give the team instructions on how to use the project.
